Inspired by the complicated relationship between humans and nature, neither kind nor unkind but simply impartial and continuous, universal and communal, a warm cabin in the woods, close but far, a respite for thought overlooking a river untamed, flowing, flexible, constant, slouching onto a soft dark sofa, heels up on a tufted brown-leather ottoman, a calm space rendered in velvet, leather, and wood in dark, rich earth and jewel tones, dotted with the familiar scents of cedar, sandalwood, spice, tobacco, tannins, love, tears. Had she stayed she would have been lost, but maybe she liked lost.
